Astore Valley (el. 2,600 m (8,500 ft)) is located in Astore District in the Pakistani region of Gilgit-Baltistan. The valley, adjoining the eastern side of mountain Nanga Parbat, is about 120 km (75 mi) long, having area of 5,092 km2 Due to its diverse landscape and climatic conditions the valley provides excellent habitat for a variety of commercially important medicinal plants.[

Rama Valley is thickly forested with huge pine, cedar, fir and juniper trees. The valley is about 3300 meters (10800 feet) above sea level and thus is snow covered for 7-8 months of the year. In summer, it becomes lush green; conditions favoured by local shepherds. Rama Lake is on the top of the beautiful Astore Valley, with a light cover of oak trees and other greenery.

Deosai refers to the “Land of Giants”. Deosai Plains are situated in Astore District of Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. The National Park of Deosai is located on the Deosai Plains of the northern geographic region. Deosai National Park is at an average altitude of 4,114 meters (13,497 feet) above the sea level, making the Deosai Plains the second highest plateau in the world, after the adjoining Tibetan Plateau. It protects an area of 3,000 square kilometers. It is well famous for its rich flora and fauna of the Karakoram-West Tibetan Plateau. In the spring spell it is roofed by sweeps wildflowers and a diversity of butterflies. Deosai Lake also known as Sheosar Lake from the Shina language meaning “Blind Lake” is in the park. The lake, at an elevation of 4,142 meters (13,589 feet), is one of the highest elevated lakes in the world. Its length is 2.3 kilometres (7,500 feet), width 1.8 kilometres (5,900 feet) and average depth is about 40 meters (130 ft). It is situated close to the Chilim Valley on the Deosai Plains.

Skardu is a town and capital of Skardu District, in Gilgit–Baltistan, Pakistan. Skardu is in the 10 kilometres (6 miles) wide by 40 kilometres (25 miles) long Skardu Valley, at the confluence of the Indus and the Shigar River. Skardu is at an altitude of nearly 2,500 m (8,200 ft). The town is surrounded by grey-brown coloured mountains, which hide the 8,000 metre peaks of the nearby Karakoram range. There are three lakes in the vicinity: Upper Kachura lake, Lower Kachura Lake, and Sadpara Lake.

Shangrila Lake is also known as Lower Kachura Lake. It is a popular tourist destination, and has a unique restaurant that is built on the fuselage of an aircraft that had crashed nearby. This resort is so beautiful, and tranquil that you wouldn’t want to miss the beauty around it.

The Shigar Valley is a valley in Baltistan in northern Pakistan that is watered by the Shigar River. The valley stretches about 170 km from Skardu to Askole and is the gateway to the high mountains of the Karakoram. The town of Shigar is the largest settlement in valley. Even though the Shigar Valley is a remote and largely inaccessible place, there are several villages in the valley. Askole is the last settlement in the Shigar Valley, which is still far from the high mountains. Shigar was formerly an administrative sub-division of Skardu District, but is now a district in its own right.

Naran is one of the most scenic town in Pakistan, attracting thousands of tourists, trekkers, photographers and nature-enthusiast, every year. The Kunhar River, swollen by glacier melt, passes through this town as it meanders its way through the valley.
